I loved this film as a kid. It was my introduction to Tolkien and while it has its faults it always takes me back and will always have a place in my heart.

Oooh that's a good one!
I was 8 when this came out and I remember my brother having to go to Paris with my mum for medical treatment and as a treat she took him to see this film, he came back home raving about it! I was so gutted that I did not get to see it!!
I did get to see it too and yes I agree with you it may have its faults but for a young kid back then it was just marvelous!

I watched this for the first time a couple of years ago, after having seen the Jackson ones. I think it still stands up. It's such a shame that they ran out of money before they got to Return of the King.
